Your data

Privacy policy

How we handle your personal information, in line with UK GDPR. Last updated 8 June 2026.

Solar Panels Grants ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights. It is written to comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Solar Panels Grants, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX. You can contact us about data protection at ask@solarpanelsgrants.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Eligibility and enquiry details you give us: name, phone number, email, postcode, heating type, benefit status and tenure.
  • Technical data if you accept optional analytics cookies: anonymised usage information. We do not set these unless you consent.

The answers you give in our eligibility checker are stored only in your own browser until you choose to submit them to us.

Why we use it (lawful basis)

  • To check your eligibility and contact you about ECO4 - based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To refer you to an accredited installer where you ask us to - based on consent and our legitimate interest in providing the service you requested.
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations - based on legal obligation.

Who we share it with

If you qualify and ask us to proceed, we share your details with one MCS-accredited installer for your area so they can arrange a survey. We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to a panel of multiple buyers. We may use trusted service providers (for example to host the website or send email) under appropriate data-processing agreements.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and eligibility data only as long as necessary to provide the service and meet our legal obligations, typically no longer than 24 months, after which it is securely deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email ask@solarpanelsgrants.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies by default. Optional analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in our cookie banner. See our cookie policy for details and to change your choice.
