Solar grants on Universal Credit

Universal Credit is one of the 16 qualifying benefits for ECO4. If you receive it and your home is heated by electricity, you may be able to apply for a funded solar PV installation.

Receiving Universal Credit puts you on the benefits route into ECO4. It is not the only condition: your home must be heated by electricity (for example electric storage heaters or a heat pump), and your EPC rating must be between D and G. Your energy supplier confirms the funding. We check all of this with you before referring you to an accredited installer.

The three things that need to line up

  • A qualifying benefit - which, with Universal Credit, you have.
  • Electric heating - solar under ECO4 is only funded where your home is heated by electricity, not mains gas.
  • An EPC rating of D to G - the scheme is aimed at less energy-efficient homes.

Your energy supplier makes the final decision on funding, so meeting these conditions is a strong start rather than a guarantee. We'll always be honest with you about where you stand before referring you to an installer.
