Solar grants on Jobseeker's Allowance

Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance is a qualifying benefit for ECO4. Combined with electric heating and an EPC rating of D to G, it can open the door to funded solar PV.

JSA is one of the means-tested benefits that can make a household eligible for ECO4 support. Eligibility also depends on your heating type and EPC rating, and the final decision on funding sits with your energy supplier. We'll talk you through exactly where you stand before anything goes ahead.

The three things that need to line up

  • A qualifying benefit - which, with Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), you have.
  • Electric heating - solar under ECO4 is only funded where your home is heated by electricity, not mains gas.
  • An EPC rating of D to G - the scheme is aimed at less energy-efficient homes.

Your energy supplier makes the final decision on funding, so meeting these conditions is a strong start rather than a guarantee. We'll always be honest with you about where you stand before referring you to an installer.
